During this time I attended a Scrapbooking Crop and they had a lady come to speak on Essential Oils and its healing power. I went to the class and with skepticism I listened. Afterward, I talked with Cathy about the issues that concerned my husband and I. She could address those. My allergies have been giving me lots of trouble the last year and half and I was about to seek out an allergist here and begin shots again. Yes, it got that bad! I thought about our conversation regarding that and joint issues we were both experiencing [specifically gout]. The next day after lots more questions, I decided to sign up to get the starter kit. It had the oils in it that I would use for both of those issues. After all, I'd spend more just trying to find an allergist. This was my last resort. The allergies are better [to date] but still have attacks. Now, as I said they had gotten bad over the year so I wasn't looking for an overnight cure. I told her after using them in my diffuser that I was feeling better and told her I was going to try to walk/run when I finished talking with her. She mentioned to use one of the oils mixed with coconut oil and rub it on my knee. Okay, time to sit down, folks! Again, with skepticism, I did it. Mind you now that I have not been totally without pain for a while. Off I go to see what I could "do". The FIRST time I was able to begin intervals again, not just all walking. Okay...did this really happen?? Not sure. I'll try this again. A week later I ran an entire 3 miles with NO issues and no stopping!! Okay, after several uses, I am now SOLD on Panaway!! Cathy told me that this blend had healing properties, too, so I am more sold on it. I was concerned that it was more of a pain reliever and I didn't want something that would mask a problem needing to be corrected.
Thanksgiving came and went with a walk on Friday. I have been working on my 1,000 Mile Challenge for 2016 and, needless to say, so much has caused interruptions the entire year...MANY!! So much more walking than I could have ever expected. Well, let's just say I use to never walk! After Friday's walk, I realized I was 1.5 miles away from reaching the 1,000 miles. I was so excited! My next thought was that I wanted to finish my challenge with my friends who have encouraged me throughout the year! I contacted them and made a date for Monday morning. When I reached the 1.5 miles for completion, we stopped and took pics right then and there!! Of course, we didn't stop there; we went almost 4 miles past then but that was a momentous moment.
Me and Moe in the front with Buck, Susan and Jean behind.
Me and Moe. Dang shirt caught on my flip-belt!
All us girls!
They all showed up...I have some great running friends! And, finally, my medal...I'm so happy with it as I worked really hard to achieve this distance. And, now....I have over a month to go! Woo-hoo!
I had planned to wear this shirt on my finishing day but it was SO hot, it didn't happen!
Fortunately, I got two shirts and this was short-sleeved. Love the last line!!
Yes, this was really a great day! The future is looking great cause I plan to NEVER quit. I want to leave you with this. No matter how many times you get setback, respect the healing time with your eyes on the light at the end of the tunnel! Push through even if you have to start all over, like me. Be strong cause you CAN do it!
Run 4 It...cause you can!
